Relaxing scent

When your nerves are overwrought and you feel restless, the fresh scent of wintergreen can help you balance and calm yourself. It sedates and calms you, allowing you to take a break when you need it. Less well known in our circles, but traditionally used for a long time in North American medicine, as well as Indian and Chinese medicine, wintergreen essential oil is a natural remedy. In addition to improving your mood, the oil can also be particularly helpful in illnesses such as the flu thanks to its alleged fever-reducing and pain-relieving effects. The oil is particularly valued for inflammation and pain, as wintergreen oil has strong anti-inflammatory properties. The sweet, fresh aroma thus provides gentle healing during times of illness and offers you the rest you need.

    1. Aromatic properties

    Relaxing, uplifting, stimulating

    2. Gentle steam distillation from the leaves of the mockberry

Our wintergreen essential oil is obtained through careful steam distillation from the leaves of the common wintergreen ( Gaultheria procumbens ) and the fragrant wintergreen ( Gaultheria fragrantissima ). This traditional process preserves the plant's characteristic fragrances in their natural purity. The result is a 100% pure essential oil – free from additives, extenders, or artificial flavors. Experience the intensely clear, sweet-fresh scent with a typical mint note – powerful, natural, and authentic.

    3. Organic quality

We only use raw materials from certified organic farming. This guarantees a product that is free from synthetic pesticides and chemical additives – good for you and the environment.

    4. 100% natural

Our essential oil contains no additives, fillers, or artificial flavors. It is 100% pure and brings you the full power of the plant in its most original form.

    Ingredients

    • Wintergreen oil

lat. Gaultheria procumbens/Gaultheria fragrantissima - 100% wintergreen essential oil.

    Components

    • Methyl salicylate

      > 98–99% – The characteristic main component of wintergreen oil. A sweet, medicinal fragrance with a slightly woody note, reminiscent of sports gels or mint chewing gum. This gives the oil its penetrating, purifying aroma.
    • Limonene

< 1–2% – A citrusy, fresh fragrance with a slight zest. It supports the freshness of the top notes and gently rounds off the sharpness of the methyl salicylate.
    • Linalool

< 1% – A floral-spicy fragrance with a soft, slightly herbal note. It lends the oil a subtle floral nuance in the background.

    Good to know

Wintergreen as a room fragrance and in perfumery

As a room fragrance , wintergreen essential oil can have a very calming and sedative effect, providing a positive effect on overstimulated nerves and inner restlessness. It can also contribute to a general improvement in mood.

In cosmetics, wintergreen essential oil is often used as a soap perfume and as a mild camphor-like flavoring agent for toothpaste, mouthwash, and other oral care products.

    Where does wintergreen come from?

Wintergreen belongs to the genus Gaultheria and is part of the heather family. Native to eastern North America, American wintergreen can grow up to 15 cm tall. This evergreen dwarf shrub has white to pink flowers that open in July and August and produces red wintergreen berries. The essential wintergreen oil, however, is extracted from the leaves.

    General information about essential oils

Why should you try essential oils?

Essential oils are a good and healthy alternative to chemical-based air fresheners and artificial fragrances. Essential oils are a healthy way to create a pleasant scent in your home, office, or wherever you are.

Essential oils also have a pleasant effect and, depending on their notes and scent, can help you relax or concentrate; they can have a calming or comforting effect, or they can be refreshing, invigorating, or energizing. The diverse scents and diverse uses can enhance your well-being and be a wonderful addition to your everyday life. Just give them a try and see for yourself!

How can aromas affect the body?

Aromas can affect your body in several ways. The most obvious way is through the nose: The olfactory nerves transmit the signal to the brain and can thus influence moods.

Another mode of action is through the skin. The molecules of essential oils can pass through cell membranes and the skin, thus reaching the tissue and bloodstream. They are therefore also capable of influencing the body through this route.

A third mode of action is via the stomach: When we eat spices such as peppermint or thyme, which contain essential oils, they reach the stomach and exert their effect via this route.

Are there risks and side effects associated with essential oils? And what's the truth behind the criticism of aromatherapy?

Essential oils should only be used diluted, as high concentrations can cause headaches and allergic reactions

Since essential oils have diverse effects (strong substances with strong effects), they should be used carefully

Aromatherapy is a holistic form of therapy for body and soul. It is difficult to evaluate the therapy scientifically. The sensory and emotional impressions triggered by the oils cannot be objectively measured.
