Description:

Lemon Eucalyptus - Eukalyptus citriodora

is obtained by steam distillation from the flowers, leaves and branch tips of lemon eucalyptus (Corymbia citriodora, Eucalyptus citriodora). In more recent botanical identification books, the lemon eucalyptus is no longer referred to as Eucalyptus citriodora but as Corymbia citriodora. Lemon eucalyptus belongs to the genus Corymbia and belongs to the myrtle family (Myrtales). The lemon eucalyptus originally comes from the west coast of Australia, where large stands of it form forests with other species. Today it is a popular container plant worldwide. The lemon eucalyptus grows up to 50 meters high as a tree. The leaves have oil glands on their rich green, shiny surface, in which the essential eucalyptus oil citriodora is formed and stored. The inflorescences have up to 3 green-white flowers per umbel. The fertilized flowers first develop into fruits, in which the small reddish-black seeds ripen.

Various types of eucalyptus oils have been used in aromatherapy for a long time. if room scent Lemon Eucalyptus Essential Oil can help with stress and insomnia and have a mood-relieving, clarifying, strengthening and relaxing effect. Due to the lack of "medicinal" scent, which is prominent in most other types of eucalyptus, it is particularly popular with children.

Lemon eucalyptus is used in the aromatherapy mostly used as a calming oil. In low concentrations it can be used as a gentle massage or as an oil bath. Accordingly, it is not a typical cold oil, but rather is used to combat pain. The essential oil of eucalyptus citriodora has a great anti-inflammatory (anti-inflammatory) and anti-rheumatic effect. In the case of inflammatory joint diseases and arthritis, embrocations, pads and baths are recommended as a form of therapy. The essential eucalyptus oil citriodora also has a strong analgesic (pain-relieving) effect. Therefore, it is mainly used for general pain in the musculoskeletal system. The following properties are assigned to essential lemon eucalyptus oil in the specialist literature: anti-inflammatory, strong analgesic (analgesic), antirheumatic, hypotensive, gently mucolytic, spasmolytic and insect-killing.

In cosmetics, the essential eucalyptus oil citriodora is mainly used to produce fragrances for household cleaners. The oil has a high proportion of allergenic components. In combination with other lemony essential oils, it is often used to repel insects. Cockroaches and silverfish in particular respond to eucalyptus citriodora essential oil.
