Niaouli / Niauli - Melaleuca viridiflora

Niaouli (Niauli) essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the fresh leaves of the Niaouli tree (Melaleuca viridiflora). The niaouli tree is a plant of the tea tree family (Melaleuca), which belongs to the myrtle family (Myrtaceae). The Niaouli tree is originally native to northern Australia and Papua New Guinea. Niaouli is an evergreen tree that can reach heights of between 10 and 15 m. It has a white, papery bark. The thick and smooth, broadly elliptical leaves are alternate and between seven and nineteen cm long. The flowers can be white, yellow, yellow-green or reddish-pink. The lignified capsule fruits contain the seeds. The niaouli tree is related to the tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) and the cajeput tree (Melaleuca leucadendra).

In the aromatherapy essential niaouli oil is used, among other things, as an antidepressant. Depression, which can be traced back to viral infections, deserves special mention. In therapies, it is used in oil baths and as an additive in massage oils. In addition, essential Niaouli oil can have a positive effect on nervous exhaustion and mental confusion. The following properties are attributed to essential Niaouli oil in the specialist literature: strong antibacterial, expectorant and - especially in the venous area - anti-inflammatory; Vein strengthening, antifungal, immune system strengthening, cell regenerating, insect repellent (especially mosquitoes).

In the Cosmetics the essential Niaouli oil is rarely used. It is mainly used to flavor oral care products such as toothpaste or mouthwash.

Characteristics of Niaouli bio essential oil

The oil is a mobile, colorless to yellow liquid. It has a characteristically spicy eucalyptus scent with notes of camphor. In terms of length of stay, intensity and effect, it is one of the top notes.

Niaouli essential oil dissolves very well in alcohol (1:1, 80% ethanol), vegetable oils and other essential oils. Niaouli essential oil is nearly insoluble in water. The main component with up to 65% is 1·8-cineol. α-terpineol, pinene, limonene and p-cymene are present in lower concentrations.

The natural components of the all-natural essential oil include
a-Terpineol, Pinenes, Limonene, p-Cymene.

Application:

Room scenting

Put 5-8 drops of essential oil in the bowl filled with water in the aroma lamp or wet the aroma stone directly with it. In combination with other essential oils, reduce the amount as desired.

Fragrance mixture for a stuffy nose or for an alert head to continue working: 2 Tr. Niaouli, 1 Tr. Rosemary ct. Mix cineol, 3 drops of palmarosa or with one of the lemon peel oils.

Storage: Store away from light at temperatures of 15 to 22 °C and out of the reach of children.

Important instructions:

Note the hazard warnings on the label. The bottle has a childproof cap and vertical dropper. To dose the essential oil, hold the bottle upside down so that you can count the individual drops. Depending on the consistency of the oil, it may take some time after opening for the first time until the first drops can be seen.

Caution: Essential oils are concentrates that may only be used diluted! Some of the ingredients in Niaouli essential oil are classified as hazardous to health.
